Rescuing.
Solstice Sanctuary is a community-based organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating large animals such as horses, donkeys, pigs, goats, and cows. We provide a safe and caring home for animals that have experienced neglect, abuse, or abandonment.
Our rescue work extends across Wisconsin and neighboring states including Ohio, Indiana, Iowa and even further south from Texas. Many of our Sanctuary animals come from local neglect cases and loose-pen auctions. Each one receives veterinary care, nutritious food, and daily attention from our team and volunteers.
As a Wisconsin animal rescue and sanctuary, our mission is to protect large animals, promote humane treatment, and create a community where people and animals heal together.
Healing.
At Solstice Sanctuary, healing happens through the connection between humans, animals, and nature. As a community-based animal sanctuary, we create space for people and rescued animals to heal together through compassion, presence, and care.
Caring for the animals provides people with a sense of connection and purpose. Time spent with large animals offers an opportunity to build trust, find emotional balance, and ground oneself. In return, the animals continue their own healing journey surrounded by safety and respect.
We incorporate animal-supported healing, meditation, and nature-based therapeutic activities to support the well-being of both humans and animals. At Solstice Sanctuary, we see every day how healing with animals restores hope and strengthens the spirit.
Educating.
Animal welfare education is a core part of our mission. As a community-based animal sanctuary, we believe that knowledge creates compassion and lasting change for animals and people alike.
We provide hands-on learning experiences that teach responsible care for large animals such as horses, goats, pigs, donkeys, and cows. People of all ages learn about feeding, veterinary care, animal behavior, and the importance of ethical treatment.
Our educational programs support animal welfare awareness across the community. From Girl Scout troops to the sheriffs department and local search and rescue organizations, we partner with local groups and schools to share how to care for farm animals and understand their needs.
Through education, we aim to inspire empathy, respect, and advocacy for all living beings while building a more compassionate future for animals in Wisconsin and beyond.
