what we do

Rescuing

Solstice Sanctuary, founded in 2021, is committed to helping animals in need. We are proud to be home to horses, pigs, goats, cows, donkeys, and more!

We rescue animals who have experienced trauma and are in need of a loving and safe place to process their experiences. We have helped animals of all ages, ranging from newborn kittens and foals to senior horses.

The animals currently at our Sanctuary have come from a multitude of backgrounds including local neglect cases and loose-pen auctions. We have saved animals from Wisconsin, Ohio, Texas, and Iowa!

Our dedicated team of caretakers lends a nurturing hand, ensuring every animal receives the love, care, and respect they deserve. With an unwavering mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and promote the well-being of all creatures, Solstice Sanctuary is not merely a place for animals to seek refuge; it is an embodiment of compassion and a testament to the inherent connection we share with our fellow animal beings.

Healing

Humans and animals share a profound and instinctive connection that extends beyond the realms of language or reason. It is through this innate bond that the power of healing unfolds. Animals have an extraordinary ability to tap into our deepest emotions, offering solace and unconditional love. Whether it's the gentle nudge of a goat’s soft nose or the comforting presence of a horse beside us, these creatures have a remarkable capacity to soothe our souls. Their unwavering loyalty and non-judgmental nature create a sacred space where we can heal, unburden our hearts, and find solace in their compassionate presence.

Time spent in their company has the incredible potential to mend our broken spirits, restore our faith, and remind us of the beauty and resilience that resides within us. In the realm of human healing, animals hold a special place, serving as both comforting companions and silent healers, offering unwavering support as we embark on our journey towards wholeness.

We use numerous modalities to help humans and animals process their experience including alternative therapies, time, meditation, and being grounded in nature.  We offer many healing opportunities at the Sanctuary, such as monthly mediations, yoga classes and one on one healing sessions with Heartland Farms.

Educating

Education plays a pivotal role in promoting animal welfare and fostering a compassionate society. By empowering individuals with knowledge about animal welfare, we can raise awareness about the ethical treatment of animals and inspire positive change. It should encompass topics such as animal behavior, healthcare, and the impact of human activities on animals' well-being.

By instilling empathy, compassion, and respect for all living beings, education on animal welfare equips individuals with the tools to advocate for change and make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals. Solstice Sanctuary understands that rescuing animals and helping them heal is only part of the equation.

To truly make a difference in these animals lives, we must help educate. We offer opportunities to learn how to care for farm animals including feed, veterinary requirements, and animal behavior.

From Girl Scout troops to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, Solstice Sanctuary is happy to work with local groups and schools to teach them about animals and the care necessary for each species.
