Solstice Sanctuary

Where animals and humans heal together.

A healing farm for rescued large animals

Since 2021, Solstice Sanctuary has been a haven for farm animals who have experienced trauma or have found themselves without a home. We’re successfully filling a crucial gap in the rescue community while offering human wellness programs that build connection, provide education, and advocate for animal welfare—across southeast Wisconsin and beyond.

Our mission

Solstice Sanctuary’s mission is to provide a haven where animals and humans find healing together. It is a safe place for animals who have experienced trauma or have found themselves without a home. By embracing the restorative power of the land, we create a Sanctuary that embraces empathy and nurtures all beings.

Support the mission

Your donation supports the animals who call Solstice Sanctuary home. Contributions to our mission provide funding for care today and helps us prepare for those who will arrive tomorrow. Thank you for being part of this work.

  • "Solstice Sanctuary is a place where healing happens quietly. The animals here have this gentle way of showing me parts of myself I didn’t even know needed healing. It’s where I go to feel safe, to breathe, and to remember what really matters. Being with them has softened my heart and changed my life in ways I never expected."

  • “It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to be a part of Solstice Sanctuary and for Oakley to have opened up to my 11 yr old and I. Oakley started off as a sacred longhorn. It was difficult to get near him or for him to feel trust and love. My son was able to gain his trust, and we slowly began to build a relationship and to see the real Oakley. "

  • “Whenever I am going through a difficult time, coming out to spend time and groom Cassia and Josie always improves my mood.”

  • “Coming out to the Sanctuary is the highlight of my week.”

  • “Watching the animals find their voice and confidence is the most rewarding part.”

A safe haven

The Sanctuary provides a safe haven for rescued animals, offering them the opportunity to heal, thrive, and live free from harm and exploitation.

We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, powered entirely by volunteers and the generosity of our community. With your support, we're saving the world—one being at a time.

Healing through shared connection

Beyond rescue, Solstice Sanctuary is a place where healing is rooted in connection. The land, the animals, and the people who gather here are part of the same circle of care.

We offer guided educational visits, volunteer experiences, youth programs, and wellness gatherings including sound baths, meditation, and equine intuitive embodiment (EIE). Each experience is intentionally designed to honor the animals while creating space for reflection, learning, and connection.

Through these structured programs, community members engage with the Sanctuary in a way that is respectful, grounded, and supportive of both animal welfare and human well-being. Here, healing happens side by side.

Our approach to care

At Solstice Sanctuary, we believe healing is sacred, nonlinear, and unique to each being.

We embrace many paths to healing, and our approach integrates conventional and alternative modalities. This includes red light therapy, bodywork, whole-food nutrition, and routine veterinary care. We listen to what each animal needs and follow their lead.

We do not shy away from the tough cases. Many of our residents arrive with histories of neglect, trauma, or displacement. We welcome them with dignity and compassion, and we meet each animal where they are.

Sometimes healing means helping an animal live fully. Sometimes it means honoring their journey with a peaceful transition. We hold space for both as acts of love.
